Sandy Aftermath, Post Pictures

November 19th, 2012

We’d like to share some of the  incredible pictures submitted by our good friends at Toms River Fire Company #2, New Jersey. As you will see, the extent of several damages that super storm Sandy has caused throughout the New Jersey coastline. Many of the pictures were taken from towns in south Jersey such as Silverton, Toms River, Seaside Heights, and Ortley Beach, as well as the Toms River Firehouse a few days after the storm had hit.

Unfortunately, New Jersey and New York have been impacted the worse from Super Storm Sandy. These photos show just how powerful Sandy was…twisting poles, knocking down trees, power outages, demolishing homes, flooding low lying areas, over turning cars and boats, and even collapsing roads. Due to all this mess Sandy has caused, many people are in need of so much support and help everyday. Of the few Jersey shore attractions, Seaside Heights was hit the worse. Overwhelmingly, the boardwalk will never be the same; some of the rides on the pier were washed away into the ocean, and almost all of the stores have been damaged. Countless people have nothing left because they had lost their belongings, homes, cars, businesses, and their loved ones during Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy has caused Billions of dollars in costs and this is just the beginning of clean up, and recovery. It will take several months and maybe even years to renovate attractions. However, it’s amazing to see numerous people and organizations from all over the U.S. that are helping out hurricane victims of Sandy whether it be from donations of food, clothes, money, or shelter because every little bit counts. As time goes by, we all hope to slowly, but gradually overcome the effects from this natural disaster. Lastly, we hope these pictures give you additional insight of the destruction and devastation super storm Sandy caused.

A Special Thank You: To our friends Pearl Hann, Phil Hann, and Jerry Galione from the Toms River Fire Department for the photos, and to all other Fire Departments for their efforts in serving several towns in New Jersey and helping out the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
